What Makes This Vodka Sidecar So Good?
- This sour drink is a beautiful sping on the classic sidecar! But be careful, sip slowly, as it does pack a punch!
- The vodka sidecare is uper versiltle. You can serve it anytime: summer, holiday dinner, happy hour, etc
- The original sidecar was created during Prohibition and the vodka sidecar gives a nod to thie historic drink but with a modern twist.
Tips and Tricks for a Vodka Sidecar
- I’m using a small stemmed cocktail glass but you could use a champagne flute or lowball glass.
- Sidecar cocktails are typically made with cognac but for this variation, we’re switching it out for vodka. Any good quality unflavored vodka will work.
- Orange liqueur adds a sweet citrusy flavor to the cocktail.
- Lemon juice adds additional citrus flavor and acidity to the cocktail.

Vodka Sidecar
This vodka sidecar not only packs a punch, but is bright and refreshing with a strong citrus flavor and a hint of sweetness from the sugar rim.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces vodka
- 1 ½ ounces orange liqueur
- 1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Lemon peel for garnish
Instructions
- (Optional) Place 2 tablespoons of water in a small bowl and 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar in another small bowl. Dip your glass into the water and then into the sugar. Set aside.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the vodka, orange liqueur, and lemon juice. Shake until chilled– about 30 seconds.
- Strain into your prepared glass and enjoy immediately.
