Why This Jalapeno Popcorn Recipe is So Good

  • You’re going to love the natural heat! Spicy hot snacks like Takis and hot Cheetos are all the rage right now, but you don’t need to buy packaged snacks with food dyes and weird chemicals to get that same spicy flavor! Natural ingredients like chili powder and fresh peppers do the trick.
  • And it’s really easy and quick to make popcorn from scratch. I have always been a huge fan of popcorn, and I almost exclusively pop it myself, in a big pot on the stove. It takes about 10 minutes, and it’s well worth the time!
  • Not only does popcorn taste better when you make it at home, but it’s also less expensive too. I buy this container of popcorn on Amazon and it comes out to less than 70 cents per batch.

Tips and Tricks for Making Spicy Jalapeno Popcorn

  • Wear gloves when cutting jalapeno peppers, and be sure not to touch your eyes while you’re doing it! The oil from hot peppers will burn your eyes and any sensitive skin.
  • This popcorn is best when you use freshly popped popcorn, but you can also make it with microwave popcorn if you like. Simply drizzle the popped corn with a small amount of butter, then toss with the chili powder and diced peppers.
  • The instructions in the recipe card below will show you how to make popcorn on the stove, but you can also pop your popcorn in an air popper, and electric popcorn machine, or a microwave popper. The real magic is in the seasonings we’re adding.
  • Instead of butter, use extra virgin olive oil or popcorn oil.
  • Eat this popcorn right away after making it. It won’t store well.
  • As you eat jalapeno popcorn, the pieces of peppers will fall to the bottom of the bowl. Be sure to reach all the way down to grab a handful!
