- Potential Health Benefits: Aside from being incredibly flavorful, ginger and turmeric have a whole host of potential health benefits. For starters, you’ll be enjoying a powerful natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant drink that can boost brain health, and improve the functioning of the digestive system. There are so many others that I won’t go into here, but trust me, this turmeric shot is healthy!
- Easy to Make Ahead: This recipe makes 5 servings, which is enough to share with your family, or enough for one person to have a healthy turmeric shot ready to go every weekday morning.
Tips and Tricks for Making Ginger Turmeric Shots
- You’ll need 2-3 fresh lemons to get 1/2 cup of lemon juice.
- A 40-gram (1.4-ounce) piece of gingerroot will be about 3 inches long. The same goes for turmeric. Use fresh ginger and turmeric for this recipe!
- Turmeric will stain your hands, dishes, utensils, and countertops yellow, so be careful!
- If you find these shots a bit too spicy, feel free to water them down, or mix with iced tea or lemonade to sweeten them up. You can also add natural sweetness by adding infused lemon honey or maple syrup.
- This recipe works best in a high-speed blender like a Vitamix or a Ninja blender. You can also send all of the fruits through your juicer, but you’ll lose the fiber in the pulp.
- For a smoother shot, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve after blending.
- To Store: The recipe makes five servings, so feel free to keep the extras for tomorrow or all week long! These shots can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Turmeric stains, so I suggest using a glass storage jar.
Can I Make Turmeric Shots With Powdered Turmeric?
While powdered turmeric isn’t as powerful as fresh, it can be used in this recipe!
We recommend that you use ½ teaspoon of powdered turmeric per shot. This recipe makes 5 shots, so you would add 2 ½ teaspoons of powdered turmeric. If you are unsure, you can add less, taste it and adjust.
